The story

Ferrari is an Italian luxury sports car manufacturer based in Maranello. Founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1939 as Auto Avio Costruzioni, the company built its first car under the Ferrari name in 1947. Ferrari is synonymous with Formula 1, with which it has been involved since the championship began in 1950. The Prancing Horse badge, inspired by a symbol carried by World War I ace Francesco Baracca, remains one of the most recognisable logos in the world.

We are the Prancing Horse.

History

Enzo Ferrari raced for Alfa Romeo before founding his own constructor. The first Ferrari-badged road car, the 125 S, was powered by a 1.5 L V12 in 1947. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s Ferrari produced iconic road cars, 250 GTO, 275 GTB, 365 GTB/4 Daytona, while winning at Le Mans and in Formula 1. The 308 GTB of the 1970s broadened the customer base. The mid-engined revolution produced the Testarossa, 348, and F355 through the 1980s and 1990s. Fiat acquired a controlling stake in 1969. The company went public on the NYSE in 2015. Modern flagships include the LaFerrari hybrid hypercar (2013), the SF90 Stradale plug-in hybrid (2019), and the Purosangue SUV (2022), Ferrari's first four-door vehicle.

On track

Ferrari has competed in Formula 1 since its inaugural season in 1950 and holds the records for most Constructors' Championships (16) and most race victories among constructors. Michael Schumacher's five consecutive titles from 2000-2004 represent the sport's most dominant era. Ferrari won Le Mans six times in the 1950s and 1960s. After a long absence from top-class endurance racing the 499P LMH returned Ferrari to Le Mans victory in 2023 on the race's centenary, an emotional triumph.
