The story
Automobili Lamborghini is an Italian manufacturer of luxury supercars and SUVs. Founded in 1963 by tractor magnate Ferruccio Lamborghini after a famous altercation with Enzo Ferrari, the company has always stood for brutal performance, dramatic styling, and raging-bull imagery. Today owned by Audi/Volkswagen Group, Lamborghini produces the Huracán, Urus, and Revuelto.

History
Ferruccio Lamborghini owned one of the most successful tractor businesses in Italy when he complained to Enzo Ferrari that the clutch in his Ferrari road car was inferior to those in his tractors. Ferrari's dismissive response reportedly motivated Ferruccio to build a better grand touring car. The 350 GT debuted in 1964 with a Giotto Bizzarrini-designed V12. The legendary Miura of 1966 effectively invented the mid-engined supercar concept. The Countach (1974) defined supercar design for a generation. Financial difficulties led to multiple ownership changes through the 1970s and 1980s, Chrysler, then to the Megatech group, and finally to Audi in 1998. Under Audi ownership quality and production rose dramatically. The Gallardo became the best-selling Lamborghini ever. The Huracán and Urus SUV extended the range. In 2023 the Revuelto debuted as the plug-in hybrid successor to the Aventador.
On track
Lamborghini built the Diablo GT1 for le Mans and the Murcielago R-GT for endurance racing but the brand's motorsport record is modest compared to rivals. The Huracán SuperTrofeo one-make series has become a global customer racing platform. In the early 1990s Lamborghini supplied V12 engines to several Formula 1 teams including Lola and Modena Team, though without significant results. The factory-backed GT3 programme with the Huracán has produced national championship victories worldwide.
