Alfa Romeo is an Italian maker of premium sports cars and sedans founded in Milan in 1910. The brand is defined, perhaps more than any other, by passion and frustration in equal measure: breathtakingly beautiful designs, emotionally stirring engines, and historically inconsistent reliability. Today under Stellantis Alfa produces the Giulia sedan, Stelvio SUV, and Tonale.

History
A.L.F.A. (Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili) was formed in 1910. Nicola Romeo took over in 1915, adding his surname. Enzo Ferrari ran the Scuderia Ferrari as Alfa Romeo's racing arm in the 1930s. The Giulietta (1954) and Giulia (1962) transitioned the brand from racing to mainstream elegance. The GTV, Spider, and 33 Stradale (1967) represented styling pinnacles. Alfa went through difficulty in the 1980s and 1990s under government and then Fiat ownership. The 147 GTA and 156 GTA briefly reignited enthusiasm. The Giulia Quadrifoglio (2016) shook the BMW M3's supremacy with dramatically quicker Nürburgring lap times.

Alfa Romeo dominated Grand Prix racing in the late 1920s and 1930s, the 158/159 Alfetta won the first two Formula 1 World Championships in 1950 and 1951 with Nino Farina and Juan Manuel Fangio. Enzo Ferrari raced Alfa Romeos before founding his own marque. The GTA dominated touring car racing across Europe in the 1960s and 1970s. In DTM and WTCC the 156 and Giulietta were competitive. Alfa Romeo returned to F1 as an engine and branding partner to Sauber in 2018, winning their first podium since 1985.
