The story
The Alfa Romeo 4C is a lightweight sports coupe with a carbon fiber monocoque, a 1.75-liter turbocharged four-cylinder producing 237 hp, and a total weight of just 895 kg, lighter than a Mazda MX-5. It offers no power steering and no driver aids beyond basic stability control, making it one of the most raw and communicative sports cars available at its price. The 4C demonstrated that Alfa Romeo could still build a driver's car with genuine sporting credentials.
History
The 4C concept premiered at Geneva 2011 and was confirmed for production at Geneva 2013, entering production the same year. The Spider variant followed in 2015. Developed at Alfa Romeo's Modena facility with input from Maserati's engineering team, the 4C used carbon fiber construction technologies derived from Ferrari and Maserati practices applied to a €50,000 sports car, unprecedented at the price. The car was built entirely by hand at the Maserati plant in Modena alongside the GranTurismo.

The 4C GT4 racing variant competed in GT4 championships globally, including the Bathurst 12 Hour GT4 Cup. Super Trofeo-format 4C racing series ran in several markets, providing competitive club racing based on the production car.
