The Porsche 911 is the most continuously evolved sports car in history. Unveiled as the 901 in 1963 (renamed after Peugeot objected to three-digit names with a zero in the middle), the rear-engined flat-six layout defied conventional sports car wisdom and has underpinned every 911 to this day.
