The story
The Pagani Huayra succeeded the Zonda with a twin-turbocharged AMG 6.0-liter V12 producing 730 hp and an active aerodynamic suspension with four independently controlled flaps that adjust downforce in real time. Named for Huayra-tata, the Incan god of wind, it weighs just 1,350 kg and uses titanium hardware, carbo-titanium monocoque, and bespoke AMG engine. The Roadster and limited BC (Benny Caiola memorial) variants followed.
History
Development of the Huayra began shortly after the Zonda's debut as Pagani's long-term plan. Revealed at Geneva 2011, it arrived with gull-wing doors, a Mercedes-AMG twin-turbo V12 co-developed and tuned specifically for Pagani, and an active aerodynamic system unprecedented in road car application. The Huayra BC of 2016, 100 units, raised power to 789 hp and reduced weight through more extensive carbon fiber use. The Roadster followed in 2017 with 764 hp.
On track
The Huayra BC Roadster and Huayra Roadster BC set multiple production car performance records at Laguna Seca and other circuits. Pagani vehicles have achieved notable track times globally, though they are rarely campaigned in formal racing events.
