The story

The Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR is the 1955 sports-racer related to the W196 Grand Prix car. The Uhlenhaut Coupe is the most expensive car ever sold. Open 300 SLRs won the Mille Miglia with Stirling Moss.

History

Mercedes built the 300 SLR for the 1955 World Sportscar Championship. Moss and Jenks won the Mille Miglia. After the Le Mans disaster Mercedes withdrew from racing. Two closed Uhlenhaut Coupes were completed as development cars.

On track

Mille Miglia 1955, plus wins at the Targa Florio and Dundrod. The Le Mans crash ended the programme and Mercedes factory racing for decades.
