The story
The Lotus Evora was Lotus's first all-new model in over a decade when it launched in 2009, a 2+2 sports car that brought genuine everyday usability to the Lotus lineup without abandoning the handling excellence the brand was famous for. Powered by a mid-mounted Toyota V6 with available supercharging up to 410 hp in the Evora 410, it offered a combination of grand touring competence and proper sports car dynamics unavailable anywhere near its price point.
History
Development began under CEO Dany Bahar's ambitious expansion plan for Lotus. The Evora debuted at the 2008 London Motor Show and entered production in 2009, the first Lotus since the Esprit to carry a V6 engine with rear seats. The Evora S added the supercharged 280 hp engine in 2011. Under new management, the Sport 410 of 2015 pushed output to 400+ hp with reduced weight. The GT430 of 2017 at 430 hp with extensive carbon fiber represented the ultimate road-going Evora before production ended.
On track
The Evora GTE was developed for GT racing and competed in the 2010-2011 American Le Mans Series GT class. The GTC race car competed across multiple championships, and a road-legal GTE version was offered to customers.
