The story

The Jeep Liberty, known as the Cherokee in markets outside North America, was a compact SUV produced by Jeep from 2002 to 2012. It was designed to offer a blend of off-road capability and on-road comfort, serving as a bridge between the rugged Wrangler and the more urban Grand Cherokee.

It also introduced a more modern design language for Jeep, setting the stage for future models.

History

The Jeep Liberty was introduced in 2002 as a replacement for the Cherokee XJ. It was initially offered with a choice of two engines and was available in several trims. The Liberty was updated in 2008 with a new design and additional features, continuing production until 2012 when it was replaced by the Jeep Cherokee KL.
