The story

The Jeep CJ series is a line of small, open-bodied off-road vehicles and compact pickup trucks, built and sold by several successive incarnations of the Jeep automobile marque from 1945 to 1986. The CJ models are considered the forerunners of the modern Jeep Wrangler.

It was also one of the first Jeeps to offer an automatic transmission, making it more accessible to a wider range of drivers.

History

The Jeep CJ series began with the CJ-2A in 1945, which was the first civilian Jeep model. Over the years, the CJ series evolved with various models, including the CJ-3, CJ-5, and CJ-6, each offering improvements in design and capability. The CJ-7, introduced in 1976, was one of the most successful models, offering a balance of off-road capability and on-road comfort. The series concluded with the CJ-8 Scrambler and the CJ-10, before being succeeded by the Jeep Wrangler in 1987.

On track

The Jeep CJ-7 was popular in off-road racing and competitions, often modified for events such as the Baja 1000. Its robust design and capability made it a competitive choice in various off-road motorsport events.
