The story

Dodge is an American automobile brand produced by Stellantis. Founded by brothers John and Horace Dodge in 1900, the brand became synonymous with muscle cars and high-displacement V8 performance in the Muscle Car era and again in the modern SRT/Hellcat revival. The Charger and Challenger with their supercharged Hellcat and Demon engines are the last of a dying breed of pure American muscle.

Brotherhood of Muscle.

History

The Dodge brothers began building components for Ransom Olds and Henry Ford before launching their own car in 1914. After both brothers died of influenza in 1920 the company was sold to Chrysler Corporation in 1928. Post-war Dodge became known for performance, the D-500 package in 1956, the Charger (1966), and the legendary 1969 Charger Daytona which set NASCAR speed records. The second muscle car renaissance began when Chrysler's SRT team developed the 6.1 L HEMI in 2005. The Hellcat supercharged 6.2 L V8 arrived in 2015 rated at 707 hp, with the Demon following at 840 hp. As Stellantis accelerated electrification, Dodge announced the last Challenger/Charger in 2023, closing the combustion chapter with the 1,025 hp SRT Demon 170.
