Bizzarrini built a handful of mid-1960s GTs after Giotto Bizzarrini left Ferrari and Iso. The 5300 GT Strada and Corsa are the cars collectors want: Chevrolet V8, low nose, and a chassis from the man who engineered the 250 GTO.
The Engineer's GT
History
Bizzarrini designed the Ferrari 250 GTO, then the Iso Grifo A3/C. When he split from Iso he continued the car as the 5300 GT. About 130 examples were built. The P538 was a mid-engine sports-racer, some with Chevrolet V8s and at least one with a Lamborghini V12.
On track
The 5300 GT Corsa raced at Le Mans and in European GTs. Bizzarrini's reputation is as an engineer first; the surviving cars are treated as period works from the GTO designer.
