History

Founded by Ivor Nooteboom, Backdraft Racing began in South Africa and later expanded operations to the United States. The RT3 and BDR Cobra models established the company's reputation for producing stiff, well-engineered chassis that could easily handle big-block V8 powertrains. The RT4 Roadster, introduced in 2012, updated the lineup with revised bodywork and improved structural design. Backdraft cars are popular among builders who want a turnkey-quality end result with the satisfaction of a personal build.
