Pure Driving Pleasure
History
Simon Saunders founded Ariel Motor Company in 1991 with the vision of creating a unique sports car that prioritized performance and driver engagement above all else. The company's first model, the Ariel Atom, was unveiled in 2000 and featured a radical design with an exoskeleton chassis and no bodywork. The Atom quickly gained a cult following for its blistering acceleration and razor-sharp handling. Ariel has since expanded its lineup to include the Ace motorcycle and the Nomad off-road vehicle, while continuing to refine the Atom with various engine options and performance upgrades.
On track
Ariel does not participate in traditional motorsport series; however, its vehicles have been used in various racing events and challenges that demonstrate their performance capabilities. The Ariel Atom has been showcased in time attack events and track days around the world, where it has set impressive records for lap times due to its lightweight design and powerful engines. While Ariel has not pursued formal motorsport championships, its cars have made a significant impact on the performance landscape and continue to challenge conventional notions of what a high-performance vehicle can achieve.
